Creativity and inclusion go hand in hand. Rethinking languages and learning methods breaks down barriers to education and encourages everyone to participate. The STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) approach promotes an integrated teaching method that combines creativity, self-expression and scientific thinking. The 'A' in STEAM stands for the entire humanities area, including literature, storytelling, philosophy and expressive languages, not just the visual arts. The aim is to encourage multi-coding (verbal, visual and digital) to explain and interpret scientific phenomena from an interdisciplinary perspective. To enhance the experience, digital tools such as class blogs or Padlet can be used as 'collective notebooks' to document activities, reflections and results. These spaces enable students to share their discoveries and achievements, thereby strengthening their sense of belonging, motivation and self-esteem. The article provides some practical, generalisable examples. The STEAM methodology could be an inclusive and innovative teaching strategy that enhances knowledge, skills and interpersonal abilities. It combines scientific and humanistic knowledge to create a single educational path that promotes creativity, cooperation and meaningful learning.
Dove c’è creatività deve esserci anche inclusione, poiché ripensare i linguaggi e le modalità di apprendimento consente di ridurre le barriere scolastiche e favorisce la partecipazione di tutti. L’approccio STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) promuove una didattica integrata che unisce creatività, espressione e pensiero scientifico. La “A” di Arts non si limita alle arti figurative, ma rappresenta l’intera area umanistica, comprendendo letteratura, narrazione, filosofia e linguaggi espressivi. L’obiettivo è favorire la multicodicalità, cioè l’uso di diversi linguaggi (verbali, visivi, digitali) per spiegare e interpretare i fenomeni scientifici, in un’ottica interdisciplinare. Per valorizzare le esperienze, si propone l’uso di strumenti digitali come il blog di classe o Padlet, che fungono da “quaderni collettivi” per documentare attività, riflessioni e risultati. Questi spazi permettono agli studenti di condividere scoperte e traguardi, rafforzando il senso di appartenenza, la motivazione e l’autostima. Nel contributo vengono suggeriti alcuni esempi operativi e generalizzabili. La metodologia STEAM, infatti, potrebbe configurarsi come una strategia didattica inclusiva e innovativa, capace di potenziare conoscenze, competenze e capacità relazionali. Essa unisce saperi scientifici e umanistici in un unico percorso formativo che promuove creatività, cooperazione e apprendimento significativo.
