Configurations éco-littéraires d’un « espace-temps » : Ramuz, Vues sur le Valais

Vue sur le Valais by C. F. Ramuz, commissioned in 1943, is the account of a very special journey: the writer’s aim was to rediscover the primitive Valais at a time when industrialisation and tourism were radically changing the canton. Resurrecting the favourite country by memory means inscribing the theme of ubi sunt through literary strategies that create a real space-time. In listing Ramuz’s stylistic devices that show the weaving together of the human and the environmental, we will emphasise the role of the walking body in conveying a sensitive cartography, as well as the figures inscribing a non-anthropocentric temporality. The writing of Vue sur le Valais, based on the confrontation between different coordinate systems, could refer to a feature that unites several works of travel literature.
