The article aims to provide a contribution to the literature on cooperative banks in Europe, investigating the relationship between their efficiency and the heterogeneity of cooperative banking models adopted in the different countries. This is an area of research that, although considered crucial, is still little explored. The evidence shows that European cooperative banks, with organizational models characterized by a lower degree of integration (operating as a network or Institutional Protection Scheme, IPS), show better results in cost efficiency and market power. More integrated cooperative banks (Integrated Cooperative Networks, ICN),on the other hand, show worse cost e#ciency, but stand out for their higher profitability. Finally, cooperative banks with the highest level of integration (Consolidated Cooperative, CCG) obtain fair results in reference to cost efficiency, but disappoint in terms of market power.

Abstract
Finally, cooperative banks with the highest level of integration (Consolidated Cooperative, CCG) obtain fair results in reference to cost efficiency, but disappoint in terms of market power.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
