The chapter offers a summary of the condition of students with a migrant background in the province of Brescia in 2022/23. In particular, it aims to highlight trends and variations, positive elements and critical aspects in the current scenario of multicultural schools in Brescia, with a particular focus on what characterises the province of Brescia and what differentiates it from the rest of the Lombardy and from the rest of the country. In particular, the following are illustrated: the number of migrant students (first and second generation) enrolled from kindergarten to upper secondary school, trends in incidence rates, learning outcomes of foreign pupils compared to native pupils, learning loss and ethnic penalty, high-achieving and low- achieving students, and university students with a foreign origin. Different types of data are used, provided by MIM (Ministry of Education and Merit), INVALSI (National Institute for the Evaluation of the Education and Training System) and MUR (Ministry of University and Research), offering benchmarks between Italian and non-Italian students and comparing the case of Brescia with Lombardy (and its provinces) and Italy as a whole.

Abstract
Different types of data are used, provided by MIM (Ministry of Education and Merit), INVALSI (National Institute for the Evaluation of the Education and Training System) and MUR (Ministry of University and Research), offering benchmarks between Italian and non-Italian students and comparing the case of Brescia with Lombardy (and its provinces) and Italy as a whole.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
