Since 2005, a Belgian-Italian mission from the Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain) has been excavating a late antique villa in the Aiano site, located within the municipality of San Gimignano (Siena, Italy). Founded between the late 3rd and early 4th centuries AD, the complex was abandoned by the mid-7th century AD. Since 2019, a new sector of the complex has been partially explored. This paper will present unpublished data regarding a large room containing in situ dolia and its potential function during the transition from Late Antiquity to the Early Middle Ages.

Abstract
Since 2005, a Belgian-Italian mission from the Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain) has been excavating a late antique villa in the Aiano site, located within the municipality of San Gimignano (Siena, Italy). Founded between the late 3rd and early 4th centuries AD, the complex was abandoned by the mid-7th century AD. Since 2019, a new sector of the complex has been partially explored. This paper will present unpublished data regarding a large room containing in situ dolia and its potential function during the transition from Late Antiquity to the Early Middle Ages.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
