Several passages in Diodorus introduce the concept of the opposition between continent on the one hand and sea and island environment on the other. The issue, which Diodorus takes from classical sources, includes not only geographical but also political perspectives, which emerge in instances where the transformability of the geopolitical environment is alluded to (13, 47, 3-5: Boeotia and Euboea), as well the relationship between different geographical environment and hegemony (9, 25, 1-2: Lydians and islanders) or ecumenical perspectives that overcome the opposition between the two spheres (1, 55, 2-4: Pharaoh Sesostri's conquests; 18, 4: Alexander's political projects).

Abstract
Several passages in Diodorus introduce the concept of the opposition between continent on the one hand and sea and island environment on the other. The issue, which Diodorus takes from classical sources, includes not only geographical but also political perspectives, which emerge in instances where the transformability of the geopolitical environment is alluded to (13, 47, 3-5: Boeotia and Euboea), as well the relationship between different geographical environment and hegemony (9, 25, 1-2: Lydians and islanders) or ecumenical perspectives that overcome the opposition between the two spheres (1, 55, 2-4: Pharaoh Sesostri's conquests; 18, 4: Alexander's political projects).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
