During ten years (1995-2005) in the topsoils (0-40cm) of the 35 plots of Tadini experimental farm (Northern Italy) pH (water), Corg, Ntot, Pavail, Kexch, total carbonates, silt, clay and sand contents were measured and checked. In two plots (n 2 and n. 3), where irregular additions of organic matter (OM) as farmyard manure (FYM) were done (with no additions for five consecutive years in 10 years investigated) a decline in soil organic matter (SOM) of about 15-16% was observed, in spite of regular mineral supplements (N, P and K). Geostatistics proved to be more suitable than classical statistic tools (t-independent samples and Levene tests) to describe and represent the evolution of SOM with time, in force of good values for r2 cross validation (0.711 for 1995 and 0.828 for 2005 data).
