The issue of violence against children remains a significant social, health and cultural challenge in the contemporary world, with detrimental consequences for the well-being and development of children and adolescents. Amongst these, children with a migration background are particularly vulnerable to the phenomenon, with a markedly higher incidence than their Italian counterparts. It is imperative to address the issue of violence against minors with a migration background through targeted interventions and a more nuanced understanding of the multifaceted nature of the phenomenon. While not all minors exposed to violence develop overt psychopathology, those who experience multiple traumas may exhibit attitudes and behaviors that impede their social adaptation and emotional equilibrium, thereby compromising relationships, learning, and overall development. It is therefore vital that professionals working with children and families with a migration background in a variety of contexts receive training in the identification of risk and protection factors, enabling them to intervene and prevent violence in a timely manner. This should be done using prevention tools that can strengthen personal, family and social resources, actively involving the host community and facilitating the acculturation process. In this vein, the REMÌ Project (Networks for Combating Violence against Migrant Minors) implements targeted initiatives to furnish minors and families with a migratory background with assistance and protection. This is achieved through a series of coordinated actions, commencing with the reinforcement of the network of services and the assurance of access to them. This focus group will analyse the issue of combating violence against migrant minors. It will begin by defining the phenomenon and its prevalence, before presenting the specificities of the REMÌ project. It will then consider the value of an intercultural approach in the design of interventions for the prevention, care and treatment of these minors.
