In this paper, we present the results of a study on how women have been portrayed in the first edition of the Grand Dictionnaire Français-Italien et Italien-Français by Costanzo Ferrari and Joseph Caccia (1874), which includes proper names. Encyclopedic information distinguishes this dictionary from the other bilingual french-italian dictionaries published in the same period. We examine the presence and the representation of women among the proper names of notable personalities and characters in myths and literature.

Abstract
In this paper, we present the results of a study on how women have been portrayed in the first edition of the Grand Dictionnaire Français-Italien et Italien-Français by Costanzo Ferrari and Joseph Caccia (1874), which includes proper names. Encyclopedic information distinguishes this dictionary from the other bilingual french-italian dictionaries published in the same period. We examine the presence and the representation of women among the proper names of notable personalities and characters in myths and literature.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
