This article explores the problems and the possibilities of different models of female identity which exists in Western feminism and in European sociology. It outlines the development of liberal, marxist and radical feminisms, reviews the contemporany influences of some Italian feminist philosophers (called The Thought of Sexual Difference), analyses briefly the figure of the Nomad and the Queer theory. Moreover the author deals with some Italian sociologists and with Alain Touraine about the women subject. On the whole the focus is the complexity of the debate around the female identity with the awareness that the women can’t be fixed strictly in one way.
