L’évaluation des publications plurilingues : la diversité des langues pour la performance de la communication scientifique

Language - and the choice of language - is crucial to creating and sharing knowledge (Lévy-Leblond, 1996). When we reflect on the missions of research in a linguistically diverse and increasingly integrated world, three objectives stand out: inter-institutional mobility of researchers; dissemination of research; and cultural integration, i.e. developing a sense of connection with the place where one studies or teaches and the linguistic and cultural dimensions of that place: individual choices, disciplinary practices and contextual dynamics all need to be recognised at the same time. We propose to highlight the benefits of linguistic diversity for the performance of scientific communication and to make some suggestions for the evaluation of multilingual publications.
