In the present article we focus on the writings of G. B. Scalabrini's Italian emigration to America. Observations, published in 1887, and in particular on the page written starting from the memory of the scene of the departure of emigrants at the Milan station. The topicality of Scalabrini's words has many facets. We propose to highlight some aspects that contribute to making Scalabrini's vision of migration crucial for our time: they concern the attitude that he takes in looking at this reality. We can outline this attitude through four movements: seeing, listening, affection, generating. These movements constitute a precious legacy for considering the migration phenomenon - and, more precisely, the lives of migrants - in a relevant way for social interactions and social life.

Abstract
In the present article we focus on the writings of G. B. Scalabrini's Italian emigration to America. Observations, published in 1887, and in particular on the page written starting from the memory of the scene of the departure of emigrants at the Milan station. The topicality of Scalabrini's words has many facets. We propose to highlight some aspects that contribute to making Scalabrini's vision of migration crucial for our time: they concern the attitude that he takes in looking at this reality. We can outline this attitude through four movements: seeing, listening, affection, generating. These movements constitute a precious legacy for considering the migration phenomenon - and, more precisely, the lives of migrants - in a relevant way for social interactions and social life.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
