This article presents the findings of a research, carried out in a little child protection service in Italy, on kinship foster care. Starting from the voice of the birth parents and foster relatives, the research highlights opinions, experiences, strengths and weaknesses of this important foster care experience. Privileging placements within the family circle, supporting the foster care protagonists, as well as promoting the involvement and participation of people involved in the decision-making processes are the three messages that clearly emerge from the voices of foster parents and relatives.

Abstract
Kinship care is a widespread practice in child protection field, with the aim of offering children in need another family environment within their own family circle in which to grow and be cared for. In Italy, there are still few theoretical contributions and empirical studies on kinship fostering, as well as few quantitative data on this topic. This article presents the findings of a research, carried out in a little child protection service in Italy, on kinship foster care. Starting from the voice of the birth parents and foster relatives, the research highlights opinions, experiences, strengths and weaknesses of this important foster care experience. Privileging placements within the family circle, supporting the foster care protagonists, as well as promoting the involvement and participation of people involved in the decision-making processes are the three messages that clearly emerge from the voices of foster parents and relatives.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
