This paper aims to provide a first study about the categorisation of the temperature domain in Classical Armenian within the theoretical framework of the lexical typology. Through the analysis of a corpus of literary texts, it shows that the adjectives ǰerm “warm/hot” and c‘urt “cold/cool” are the domain-central and frame-neutral terms, which are flanked by peripheral nouns and adjectives for the very hot/moderate cold temperatures, restricted to the ambient sub-domain. The interpretation of gałǰ as a neutral term is questioned. The Classical Armenian system therefore appears to be different from that of the Modern Eastern Armenian as outlined in Daniel, Khurshudian 2015. Further research is needed to highlight the steps that have led to the restructuring of the system
