The alterations of nervous fibers, following epi-neurotomy and perineurotomy in monofasciculated nerves, are described. For this experimental study the tibial nerves of 25 rats were used. The specimens taken after 1 h., 2-7-21-40 days after operation were studied under optical and electron microscopes. The lesions found brought to the conclusion that the interruption of the nerve's connective sheaths doesn't result in a serious and irreversible parenchymal damage.
