The paper focuses on the interpretation of “general clauses”. Starting from two judicial decisions, the essay develops the main (and controversial) aspects of the topic: the notion of general clause; the specific indeterminacy involved by general clauses; the relationship between standards and the meaning of a general clause; the concept of flexibility; the so called evaluative integration.
