This paper deals with two chapters of Giorgio Pino’s book: chapters four and seven, devoted respectively to legal principles and normative hierarchies. The theses argued in the two chapters are sharable and compelling. As far as legal principles are concerned, the criticism of the strong distinction between rules and principles is persuasive. Regarding normative hierarchies, the arguments used to support the utility of the concept of normative hierarchies and the analysis of axiological hierarchies are appreciable.
