The canto XXII of Paradise discretely, but inescapably re-proposes the way of reading the poem, that is suggested already by several previous passages of the poem itself. It assumes a continuous return to the “already read” in order to greatly understand the acquisitions settled during the act of reading. This process is in many way greatly analogous not only to the method of Dante’s journey, but also to the Benedictine model of monastic life, which is in fact celebrated in this canto of Paradise.
Il canto XXII del Paradiso ripropone in modi discreti ma ineludibili il modello di lettura del poema, già suggerito da diversi passaggi precedenti del poema stesso. Esso presuppone un continuo ritorno al "già letto" per una comprensione incrementata dalle acquisizioni sedimentate durante la lettura. Tale procedimento presenta vistose analogie non solo col metodo del viaggio dantesco, ma anche col modello benedettino di vita monastica, cantato appunto in questo canto del Paradiso.
