In the last two decades, new legislation on cultural heritage has been developing in Italy, affecting also the legal treatment of the religious cultural heritage. Many agreements have been concluded both with the Catholic Church and some other religious denominations. This fact underlines the relevance of the collaboration between State and religions as a distinguishing feature of this area. The Code of cultural and environmental heritage approved in 2004 confirmed a wide protection for the religious use and enjoyment of religious cultural properties, mainly through the development of relations with the local public authorities.

Abstract
In the last two decades, new legislation on cultural heritage has been developing in Italy, affecting also the legal treatment of the religious cultural heritage. Many agreements have been concluded both with the Catholic Church and some other religious denominations. This fact underlines the relevance of the collaboration between State and religions as a distinguishing feature of this area. The Code of cultural and environmental heritage approved in 2004 confirmed a wide protection for the religious use and enjoyment of religious cultural properties, mainly through the development of relations with the local public authorities.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
