Sarcopenia is a major public health issue industrialized nations are called to face. Millions of elderly are currently sarcopenic and their number is projected to rise steadily in the next years due to the demographic trend of our societies. This, together with the burdensome clinical correlates of sarcopenia, will impose increasing demands on healthcare systems worldwide.
