The novels of Giovanni Arpino. In his novels and short stories, Giovanni Arpino represented the tensions and anxieties of Italian society from the second post-war period to the 1980s. He was a nonconformist intellectual due to his independence of judgment and he experimented various literary genres, but he always remained faithful to the art of writing stories, testing various styles (realistic, grotesque, fabulous). The contribution focuses in particular on the rich fictional production which has been for a long time unjustly on the margins of the official canon but is now experiencing a renewed editorial success.
