It is estimated that 40–45% of adults worldwide have had or will have a sexual problem. This means that sexual dysfunction is twice as common as anxiety disorders and 10 times more common than depression. Sexual health is related to physical and psychological health and life expectancy. A person with a full and satisfying sex life may be less affected by mental disorders such as anxiety or depression and medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, or chronic fatigue. Psychosexual treatments are considered effective. However, women do not seek help for several reasons, most notably stigma. SexTreatverse is a project working on new ways of treating sexual disorders to address this problem.
