‘Im Ensemble der Geisteswissenschaften’, since its development in the second half of the 20th century translation hermeneutics has gained particular relevance in relation to human communication and human mental activity in general. At the same time, the study of human sciences, as well as the exercise of translation hermeneu- tics with respect to the need to understand foreign texts prior to proceeding further, were the object of Sphet’s cultural and linguistic interests.
