Italian politics towards China and the action of its protagonists are traced here along fifty years of history, from 1970, when diplomatic relations were established between the Italian Republic and the People’s Republic of China, up to today. It emerges how, in recent decades, despite the difficulties, China has played a greater importance for Italy than what geopolitics would suggest. An important role was also played by diplomats, exponents of Italian culture and economy who have often been able to compensate for the gaps in politics in a creative way.

Abstract
Italian politics towards China and the action of its protagonists are traced here along fifty years of history, from 1970, when diplomatic relations were established between the Italian Republic and the People’s Republic of China, up to today. It emerges how, in recent decades, despite the difficulties, China has played a greater importance for Italy than what geopolitics would suggest. An important role was also played by diplomats, exponents of Italian culture and economy who have often been able to compensate for the gaps in politics in a creative way.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
