Some observations on intertextuality in the second half of Statius' Thebaid Book 1, with a discussion of remarkable cases of literary allusion to Lucretius, Virgil and Sophocles. A case of early reception of Statius' poem (in Juvenal's satire 15) is also examined. The remarks are meant to be answers to specific points raised by S. Briguglio in his commentary on Theb. 1.390-720 ('La notte di Argo', Alessandria 2020).

Abstract
Some observations on intertextuality in the second half of Statius' Thebaid Book 1, with a discussion of remarkable cases of literary allusion to Lucretius, Virgil and Sophocles. A case of early reception of Statius' poem (in Juvenal's satire 15) is also examined. The remarks are meant to be answers to specific points raised by S. Briguglio in his commentary on Theb. 1.390-720 ('La notte di Argo', Alessandria 2020).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
