The essay focuses on two unpublished letters by Vittorio Sereni, which are respectively typewritten and handwritten. Kept in the archive of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan, they open an important window on the years when Sereni combined the trade of poet with that of editor, before his definitive experience in Mondadori – that is, in the period he directed the series “Quaderni di poesia” for the publishing house La Meridiana. Dated 1954 and 1955 and addressed to the poet Mario Cerroni, who asked him to publish a collection of poems, the two letters summarize several observations, both theoretical and practical, which confirm and enlighten some key points of Sereni’s thought as it comes to light in his poetry such as in his prose.

Abstract
The essay focuses on two unpublished letters by Vittorio Sereni, which are respectively typewritten and handwritten. Kept in the archive of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan, they open an important window on the years when Sereni combined the trade of poet with that of editor, before his definitive experience in Mondadori – that is, in the period he directed the series “Quaderni di poesia” for the publishing house La Meridiana. Dated 1954 and 1955 and addressed to the poet Mario Cerroni, who asked him to publish a collection of poems, the two letters summarize several observations, both theoretical and practical, which confirm and enlighten some key points of Sereni’s thought as it comes to light in his poetry such as in his prose.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
