The aim of the study is a comparison of family relations in families with an adolescent affected by obesity and families with a normal-weight adolescent. The sample was composed by 60 triads (30 with an obese adolescent and 30 with a normal weight adolescent). Several self-report questionnaires were used. As a protective factor against psychosocial risk, the relationship with the mother arises as relevant in both the groups. The results are discussed as respect to the approach that consider the family s a unit of analysis both from theoretical and methodological point of view.
