In recent years, the use of online dictionaries has become increasingly widespread, especially among students, thus changing traditional look-up practices. By means of an empirical analysis, the study investigates the relationship between German L2 learners and dictionaries: reference needs, skills, look-up practices, in order to highlight the changes taking place and to offer some suggestions for encouraging a more critical and competent use of online resources. The keystone is effective and innovative teaching of dictionary use, introduced at all levels of foreign-language teaching.

Abstract: | In den letzten Jahren werden Online-Wörterbücher vor allem von Studierenden immer häufiger benutzt, und die traditionelle Nachschlagepraxis hat sich dementsprechend stark verändert. Mittels einer empirischen Analyse untersucht die Studie die Beziehung zwischen DaF-Lernenden und Wörterbüchern: Vorlieben, Konsultationspraktiken, Bedürfnisse, um neue Tendenzen aufzuzeigen und einige Vorschläge zur Förderung einer qualitativ besseren, kritischeren und kompetenteren Nutzung von Online-Ressourcen zu formulieren. Das Ziel ist eine effektive und innovative Wörterbuchdidaktik auf allen Ebenen des DaF-Unterrichts. | |
