The essay aims at framing the volume - the first of the Quaderni di Mediaeval Sophia series - in the context of researches on the practices of government based on consensus in the medieval age. This is a field of research practiced by the authors of the essays collected here, within which they also highlight the reasons for dissent in the face of different forms of power in the Mediterranean area.
Il saggio mira a inquadrare il volume - il primo della Collana Quaderni di Medieval Sophia - entro le ricerche, relative alle pratiche di governo basate sul consenso in età medievale. Si tratta di un ambito di ricerca praticato dagli autori dei saggi qui raccolti, entro i quali si mettono in luce anche i motivi del dissenso di fronte a diverse forme di potere in area mediterranea.
