Nella crisi una opportunità: ricostrire a partire da "noi"

Starting from a reflection on the fact that individuals are alone, becoming mere consumers or bystanders in globalized world that makes us neighbours but does not make us brothers, this paper offers a reading of Fratelli tutti focused on how to break free from the dark clouds over a closed world (chapter One) towards envisaging and engendering an open world (Chapter Three). The transition occurs in meetings “a stranger on the road”, meeting that awakens our humanity and opens wide the horizon of our action, in the perspective of the common good. Thus, fraternity is both a gift and a duty: while fully reaffirming one’s own identity, one can say “we” in total freedom and convincement.

A partire da alcune riflessioni sul nostro essere soli, consumatori/spettatori passivi in un mondo dove la globalizzazione ci fa vicini ma non ci fa fratelli, l’articolo sviluppa una rilettura sintetica di come può accadere il passaggio dal buio di un mondo chiuso (Capitolo primo) al pensare e generare un mondo aperto (Capitolo terzo della Enciclica Fratelli tutti). Tale passaggio accade nell’incontro con “un estraneo sulla strada”, un incontro che riattiva la nostra stessa umanità e spalanca l’orizzonte del nostro agire nella prospettiva del bene comune. La fraternità è dunque ad un tempo dono e compito: senza rinnegare nulla della nostra identità, possiamo dire “noi” con libertà e convinzione.
