The essay scrutinizes the roles and presence of women in Italian screen industry, in the 1085 productions and/or co-productions, gained the clearance for public screening in Italy . The paper analyses 13.094 professionals records, collected by the owned software Centric, about the women (and men) employed in the 10 main professionals of cinema and audiovisual productions: direction, screen writing, editing, producer, direction of music, DoP, make-up, costumes, set design and arts, special effects. The results show the deep gender unbalance in the Italian screen industry, highlighting at the same time, the limits and the risks of the gender equity policies.
