Baccanti di Padrissa, ma senza Euripide

Review of the show Baccanti of Euripides, directed by C. Padrissa, July-August 2021, 56th season at the Greek-Roman Theater of Syracuse. This interpretation is more attentive to the scenographic and spectacular effects than to a modern and faithful rendering of the ancient play of Euripides, whose message about Dionysus and the Bacchae appears completely confused and disregarded. The distinction between the Bacchae of Asia and the Cytheron and the scenes of irony and grotesque comedy that intertwine with the tragic text are lost. Also the meaning of Dionysus' mission to Thebes is misunderstood.

Recensione allo spettacolo Baccanti di Euripide, regia di C. Padrissa, luglio-agosto 2021, 56a stagione presso il Teatro greco - romano di Siracusa in cui si fanno presente alcune criticità nell'interpretazione proposta, attenta più agli effetti scenografici e spettacolari che a una resa 'moderna' e al tempo stesso fedele dell'antico spettacolo di Euripide, il cui messaggio su Dioniso e le baccanti appare del tutto confuso e disatteso. Vengono persi la distinzione tra Baccanti d'Asia e del Citerone, le scene di ironia e comicità grottesca che s'interecciano al testo tragico ed è frainteso il senso della missione a Tebe di Dioniso.
