The purpose of this essay is to rebuild the investigation on hispanoamerican identity a long the 70s and 80s. The work use as an example Yo el Supremo, a novela by the paraguaia author Augusto Roa Bastos. Through the literary text the essay try to fix the pattern of the historical and social conditions that create the Nueva Novela Histórica and that caracterized the historical period. We will resume the action that Roa Bastos employs on the historical discourse to demostrate how is not valid to arrive to the redefinition of the identity of a Nation through the language.
