The work focus on demonstrate that the linguistic hybridity of Got seif de cuin!, first novel of David Ruiz Puga, underlines the need to find a language ‘other’, that could correspond to the real perspective in the redefinition of Belize as an indipendent nation, result of contact between two different cultures. The analysis of the novel focuses on the importance of language in the definition of guidelines of interpretation of identities that lives in situation of bilinguism, and underlines the tecniques used to describe the historic-cultural diglossia that characterizes Belize.
