This article illustrates the meaning of the concept of racism in the context of contemporary international scientific debate. After a brief analysis of the variegated phenomenology of racism and the multiplicity of its interpretations, the entry introduces the main international documents on racism and the bodies instituted to monitor and combat ethnic prejudice and racial discrimination. Finally, it focuses on the contribution that the Social Doctrine has always given, and does not cease to give, in favor of equality and brotherhood, the true and key base of the anti-racist struggle.
