Terminologie diachronique: méthodologies et études de cas. Introduction

By means of diachronic terminology paths, it is possible to highlight the history of the meanings of certain terms and the density of their cultural implications from the perspective of the history of languages and cultures. Meanings and texts, history and modernity: the naming of new concepts offers patterns in the history of terminological creation. Within the relationship between texts and meanings, the moment when the nomenclatures are established sets a date from which the life of these terms is determined, so as their entry into lexicographical history, their role in the transmission of knowledge. If the history of certain terms is retraced, it is possible to identify some that have made the history of a century, of a discipline, of a technique, and others that remain forever the privileged witnesses of an era, its achievements and its know-how. The articles in this issue offer analytical paths in the perspective of diachronic terminology.
