Sustainable development goal, education. A case study

Pope Francis in his Encyclical letter Laudato sì (Francesco 2015), has highlighted how today we find ourselves living through a complex socio-environmental crisis which is related to a growth of the two last centuries which has not been oriented towards a true integral development and to an improvement of the quality of life. The Encyclical has launched the urgent challenge to protect our common home, uniting the whole human family in the search for a sustainable development and of an integral ecology. Different factors today increasingly cause problems and interrogations on the modalities for a relation between the individual and society, material and cultural production systems, and local as well as planetary resources. Therefore, today pedagogy ought to be a science which reads the present and anticipates the future, between values and educational intentionality, choosing new lifestyles and unprecedented production modalities.
