Bearing in mind the fact that the theme of poverty is addressed by Bonaventure mainly in his works concerning the Franciscan Order, which date from after 1257, the year in which he was appointed minister of the Franciscan Order, and that these are works with an "official tone" that masks the personal thought of the Seraphic Doctor, is it possible to trace a personal position of Bonaventure on this subject? Is it possible to identify a coherent line of his own? The hypothesis guiding the present work is that if one retraces Bonaventure's treatment of poverty, there is no need for a coherent approach. Bonaventure's treatment of poverty not only as a response to the attacks of the Seculars, already widely investigated and documented also by recent studies but within the anthropology, marked by the character of relationality and of openness, it is possible to determine a coherent way of thinking, guided by the starting Christocentric starting point.

Abstract
