The chapter, following the analyses of previous years, offers a summary of the the condition of students with a migrant background in the province of Brescia in 2019. Particularly, it aims to highlight persistent trends and variations, positive elements and critical aspects in the current scenario of multicultural schools and education in Brescia. It shows in more detail: number of migrant students (1st and 2nd generation) enrolled from kindergarten to upper secondary school, trend of incidence rates, foreign pupils’ outcomes in comparison with native students, university students with a foreign origin, basic skills achievement of adult migrants, the way foreign families take part in the Italian education system. Different kinds of data are used, provided by MI (Ministry of Education), INVALSI (National Institute for the Educational Evaluation of Instruction and Training) and Ministry of Internal Affairs (Prefecture of Brescia), offering benchmarks among Italian and non-students students and comparing the case of Brescia to Lombardy and Italy as a whole.
