Re-examining some well known evidences of the republican age (based mainly on the Cicero's Against Verres) attesting significant examples of jurisdictional intervention of the Roman governor in the field of the local autonomy of the provincial cities, one tries to make some new considerations, referred in particular to Sicily, about the significance and regulation of these interventions, the procedure and law applied in such cases and, more generally, about the relationship between the Roman and the local jurisdiction in the provinces during the last century of the Roman Republic.

Abstract
Re-examining some well known evidences of the republican age (based mainly on the Cicero's Against Verres) attesting significant examples of jurisdictional intervention of the Roman governor in the field of the local autonomy of the provincial cities, one tries to make some new considerations, referred in particular to Sicily, about the significance and regulation of these interventions, the procedure and law applied in such cases and, more generally, about the relationship between the Roman and the local jurisdiction in the provinces during the last century of the Roman Republic.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
