This edition, fully annotated, includes over 50 letters and postcards which were exchanged in the period 1903-1910 between Carl Muth, the founder and editor of the German catholic magazine «Hochland», and the Italian writer Antonio Fogazzaro. These documents are published here for the first time in their entirety and from the original manuscripts (in German, French and Italian) with Italian translation. They not only provide an insight into the controversial publication and reception of Fogazzaro’s novel Il Santo in Germany. They also highlight some hardly known aspects of the European modernist crisis with particular reference to the relationships between German and Italian modernism. The volume includes a large introductory essay, an appendix with a letter from Friedrich von Hügel to Carl Muth and three indexes (of the names, of the literary characters and works, and of the places quoted in the letters).

Abstract
The volume includes a large introductory essay, an appendix with a letter from Friedrich von Hügel to Carl Muth and three indexes (of the names, of the literary characters and works, and of the places quoted in the letters).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
