Italian-speaking students of French as a foreign language tend to underestimate the differences between the French and the Italian culture. They often interpret the two languages as equivalent in essence, as if they expressed exactly the same meanings with almost identical words. This paper presents an experience of integrated language and culture teaching that has proved to be useful to make the students perceive the distance between French and Italian culture, thus increasing their interest toward the French language.

Abstract
Italian-speaking students of French as a foreign language tend to underestimate the differences between the French and the Italian culture. They often interpret the two languages as equivalent in essence, as if they expressed exactly the same meanings with almost identical words. This paper presents an experience of integrated language and culture teaching that has proved to be useful to make the students perceive the distance between French and Italian culture, thus increasing their interest toward the French language.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
