The history of students in Italy is an innovative research field, that still has not been explored systematically. The historiographic renewal that is been in progress for the last few decades set the foundations to fill in this gap and opened new perspectives and research paths. This article illustrates those fundamental passages in the field of Italian historiography of education that allowed the paradigmatic change of the discipline and the inauguration of innovative research lines. Furthermore, this article focuses on the subjective history of the students and on their personal experience, and it aims to depict the profile of the students from an epistemological point of view, in order to better identify the cultural and social aspects that characterize their history. Finally, after analyzing the micro-history education and the history of educational institutions, this article focuses on the sources and research methods to promote the history of students in a more organic manner, with a special focus on the heuristic value of children writings

La storia degli scolari in Italia costituisce un campo di ricerca nuovo, intorno al quale mancano ancora esplorazioni sistematiche. Il rinnovamento storiografico in corso da qualche decennio ha posto le basi per colmare tale ritardo e, congiuntamente, aprire possibili prospettive e itinerari di ricerca. L’articolo, dopo aver illustrato alcuni passaggi fondamentali che, nell’ambito della storiografia dell’educazione italiana, hanno consentito un mutamento paradigmatico della disciplina e l’inaugurazione di innovativi filoni di indagine, mette a fuoco la questione della storia degli alunni, della loro soggettività, del loro vissuto. A tal fine espone l’esigenza di chiarire, sul versante epistemologico, il profilo dello scolaro per meglio individuare intorno a quali aspetti caratterizzare la sua storia, intesa soprattutto come storia di una costruzione culturale e sociale. Dopo aver presentato alcuni affondi, relativi alla storia degli scolari, individuati nell’ambito delle ricerche di microstoria dell’educazione o di ricostruzione storica dei singoli istituti scolastici, il contributo mette a fuoco le possibili fonti e i metodi di ricerca atti a promuovere in maniera più organica, la storia degli studenti illustrando, in particolare, il valore euristico dell’uso delle scritture infantili

Abstract
