The article aims at analyzing the role of plurilingual expatriate teachers: the topic of the dynamics of cooperation between native and non-native speaker teachers of foreign languages is empirically investigated in relation to French as a Foreign Language (Français Langue Etrangère – FLE). Learners’ needs are considered along with their training from intermediate to upper intermediate levels and native and non-native speaker teachers’ attitudes. The discussion focuses on the advantages of a balanced cooperation between the two profiles of teachers, insofar as its advantages seem to outweigh its drawbacks. The article highlights the importance of creating mixed teams of teachers to the maximum benefit of students and their preparation, both for exams and their future professional needs by analyzing the case of the organisation of FLE teaching at a university language centre over the 2008–2018 decade.

L'articolo si propone di analizzare il ruolo degli insegnanti plurilingue provenienti da paesi esteri: il tema delle dinamiche di cooperazione tra insegnanti madrelingua e non madrelingua di lingue straniere viene indagato empiricamente in relazione al francese come lingua straniera (Français Langue Etrangère - FLE). Sono considerati i bisogni degli studenti, la loro formazione dal livello intermedio a quello avanzato e i comportamenti degli insegnanti madrelingua e non. La discussione si concentra sui vantaggi di una cooperazione equilibrata tra i due profili di insegnanti, nella misura in cui i vantaggi sembrano superare gli svantaggi. L'articolo evidenzia l'importanza di creare team misti di insegnanti a massimo beneficio degli studenti e della loro preparazione, sia per gli esami sia per le loro future esigenze professionali, analizzando il caso dell'organizzazione dell'insegnamento del FLE in un centro linguistico universitario nel decennio 2008-2018.
