The transition from childhood to adulthood through adolescence implies a sort of "bereavement" that is connected with the acceptance of one's limits and responsibilities. Since adolescence is not only a bio-psychological phenomenon, but a social and cultural representation, this transition suffers from the historical transformations we are passing through. Nowadays, the process of coming of age is complicated by the modification in family affective codes and educational attitudes and a deep change in intergenerational relationships. Instead of a delimited and provisional biological and biographical step, adolescence is turning into a prolongued or lasting condition, that symbolizes the permanent crisis we are involved in.

Abstract
The transition from childhood to adulthood through adolescence implies a sort of "bereavement" that is connected with the acceptance of one's limits and responsibilities. Since adolescence is not only a bio-psychological phenomenon, but a social and cultural representation, this transition suffers from the historical transformations we are passing through. Nowadays, the process of coming of age is complicated by the modification in family affective codes and educational attitudes and a deep change in intergenerational relationships. Instead of a delimited and provisional biological and biographical step, adolescence is turning into a prolongued or lasting condition, that symbolizes the permanent crisis we are involved in.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
