La ricostruzione storica della vita e delle opere di Giovanni Biroli (1772 - 1825), qui ripercorsa con particolare riferimento agli anni di insegnamento presso il Liceo di Novara, offre l'opportunità di esplorare la riforma scolastica degli istituti di istruzione secondaria superiore e la creazione di orti botanici per l'istruzione agraria in Italia durante l'età napoleonica.
