Interventi di riqualificazione urbana a Milano. Lungo la direttrice del Sempione

Within the framework of large urban transformations underway in Milan since the mid-1980s, this paper examines the north-western sector of the city, along the Sempione axis. There are several ongoing projects: the historical Trade Fair district (Fiera) is being redeveloped since the transfer of exhibitions to the Rho-Pero area on the edge of the city, on the same axis; the post-industrial areas of the Portello are being reconverted following the re-location of the Alfa Romeo plant outside Milan; the mostly barren and unbuilt areas of Cascina Merlata, suitable for the staging of Expo 2015, and located in a dynamic context, are being rehabilitated.
