This paper offers a systematic review of the literature published over the period 1985-2016 across different disciplines on the role played by experience in the context of acquisitions. Differently from previous literature reviews on this topic, this review adopts a broader perspective that encompasses both firm-level and individual-level experience and covers research on both acquisition behavior and acquisition performance. A framework for positioning existing literature is provided and a research agenda is outlined.

Abstract
This paper offers a systematic review of the literature published over the period 1985-2016 across different disciplines on the role played by experience in the context of acquisitions. Differently from previous literature reviews on this topic, this review adopts a broader perspective that encompasses both firm-level and individual-level experience and covers research on both acquisition behavior and acquisition performance. A framework for positioning existing literature is provided and a research agenda is outlined.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
