Following an analysis aimed at attempting to define the changing pedagogical landscape in comparison with the great themes presented by various studies on the brain and the new visions of the human mind, we will attempt to address the important issues whose meaning is contained in one simple but important question: Does an education enlightened by neuroscience help us become more human? This question will direct the reflection on self-consciousness and education towards altruism, developed in this essay through three fundamental points: the ability to “say I” when confronted with reality (taking responsibility for one’s actions); the relationship between emotions and rationality as a vehicle for maturity; empathy as a multidimensional concept between neuroscience and pedagogy.

Abstract
Following an analysis aimed at attempting to define the changing pedagogical landscape in comparison with the great themes presented by various studies on the brain and the new visions of the human mind, we will attempt to address the important issues whose meaning is contained in one simple but important question: Does an education enlightened by neuroscience help us become more human? This question will direct the reflection on self-consciousness and education towards altruism, developed in this essay through three fundamental points: the ability to “say I” when confronted with reality (taking responsibility for one’s actions); the relationship between emotions and rationality as a vehicle for maturity; empathy as a multidimensional concept between neuroscience and pedagogy.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
