Results from a new collation of the manuscripts P and γ of Vergil's works. In the Aeneid, the derivation of γ from P is confirmed by new evidence. On the contrary, in the Georgics γ's model is a late-antique manuscript which showed a text very different from that of P. Based on the extension of the wide textual lacunae that affect γ, it can be calculated also the shape and the lenght of a standard page of this lost manuscript.

Abstract

Results from a new collation of the manuscripts P and γ of Vergil's works. In the Aeneid, the derivation of γ from P is confirmed by new evidence. On the contrary, in the Georgics γ's model is a late-antique manuscript which showed a text very different from that of P. Based on the extension of the wide textual lacunae that affect γ, it can be calculated also the shape and the lenght of a standard page of this lost manuscript.
